How to reduce the calorie content of fried potatoes

The most high-calorie is the classic recipe for frying: in such potatoes from 280 to 320 kcal per 100 g, depending on the amount of oil that you poured into the pan. It is logical that the less oil, the less calories. Boiled potatoes in general have an energy value of only 80 kcal per 100g, all the rest falls on additional products.





So, the main way to reduce the calorie content of a dish is to minimize cooking oil. How? For starters, it’s important to choose the right pan. On a good cookware with non-stick coating, potatoes will not stick even with the smallest share of oil. You can, of course, fry it even without it, but to taste it will be completely different. Therefore, we take the oil, but not more than 1 tablespoon in a pan. After frying, you can throw the finished potatoes into a colander so that excess fat drains.





Best of all helps to reduce the calorie content of fried potatoes and deep-fried cooking. It would seem that there is a lot of oil, however, in this way, fried potatoes get a calorie content of only 167 kcal, that is, 2 times less than the traditional one. The whole secret is that there is practically no oil in the finished dish: it is all the glass back into the fryer through the grid. To cook such food at home, it is not necessary to have special equipment, as in McDonald's. An ordinary frying pan or a small cauldron will do.

  1. Peel the potatoes, wash them thoroughly and towel-dry each tuber. If it remains wet, the oil in the pan may flare up.
  2. Cut each potato into thin strips.
  3. Pour 150-200 g into the dishes. Vegetable oil and wait until it warms up well.
  4. Pour potato sticks in small portions of hot oil, stir them occasionally, and take out the finished ones with a slotted spoon.
  5. Put the pulled sticks in a sieve to reduce the calorie content of fried potatoes by eliminating any oil residue.
  6. Resist the temptation to overcook 10 kg of potatoes in the same oil. From heating it acquires harmful properties, and the longer it heats up, the more carcinogens in it. Therefore, frying potatoes at once, drain the oil into the sink. If you want supplements - better take a new one. After all, your kitchen is not a fast food restaurant, and the main thing here is not economic profit, but pleasure and benefit for the family.

It’s not worthwhile to count calories of fried potatoes in your mind at every glance at the dish, sometimes you can give yourself free rein and relax just by enjoying your favorite meal. In the end, without such small weaknesses, no diet is a joy. If you suddenly exceed the daily calorie intake - the next time you eat an apple, carrot or celery, such products have a “negative” calorie content, that is, the body, spending effort on chewing and digesting such foods, spends more energy than it consumes with these products.
