Idea for Geek Halloween, or time to pick GeekMask

As usual, when approaching an event, we try to pick up some interesting little things and talk about them. Today we introduce you to Outline Montreal - the authors of the GeekMask project.

Outline Montreal team is Canadian, but it brings together artists and designers from different countries: France, Italy, Canada. The main buyers are the founders with Kickstarter and Indiegogo, and in general Outline Montreal can be recognized as “regular visitors” to these sites.

The first successful project dates back to 2015 , which is also considered the year the company was formed. The only range that developers offer is luminous masks of various designs, relevant for all kinds of parties, holidays, such as New Years or Halloween.

In Russia, devices are sold under the name GeekMask, but the original name is slightly different - The Sound Reactive LED Mask. The first campaign, despite being successful in terms of funding, was controversial: only one design was presented - the Jaguar, which is now the company’s logo.

Users were also not very happy with the controller, which frankly interfered, but overall still showed loyalty. This loyalty was the impetus for new campaigns on Kickstarter and Indiegogo , whose total revenue was about 41 million rubles.

Well-known contemporary illustrators, for example, Patrick Seymour , were involved in the work on the new collection for the project, which affected the number of new images and their features.

In particular, the masks received recognizable smooth lines, which can be found in other works of the designer.

The assortment was “humanized”, and several recognizable characters were added to the popular beasts, for example .

The shapes of the picture have also become more diverse; a “mosaic.”

What is it

GeekMask are thin and light masks that can flicker in different preset modes or respond to music. The mask uses phosphorescent ink, which shines through the translucent layer of the pattern.

I must admit that in the dark it looks very impressive.

The mask itself is made rather simple. The main element is the controller, which has:

On / Off Lever:

Here, on the same edge, is a charging connector. There is also one control button, clicking on which activates flickering modes of different sizes:

On the opposite side is the microphone hole. A microphone is needed to make the mask flicker to the beat of the music.

This power supply is attached to the mask using a loop, which then goes “into the electronics”.

The mask itself is extremely thin, by the way, much thinner than the belt itself, which is attached to the head.

The strap is soft, suitable for both adult and children's heads. The control panel itself is attached from the back with the help of - also - a special small strap. It’s not very difficult to find the control button.

Despite the apparent “flimsy” in general, everything sits comfortably and works properly, however, probably the mask will not last forever. But at the same time, the cost this year for the upcoming holidays has slightly decreased - by the end of October by 34%. For those who want to buy, we have an additional coupon for a 10% discount on the current price: GEEKHABR (also until the end of the month).

In general, an amusement toy with simple controls, a bright and interesting design for parties. It may well serve as a good gift for the upcoming holidays.

Good mood to you all!
