Learn candied fruit: the benefits and harms of this product

Surely, many people know what candied fruits are. Candied fruits are fruits, vegetables or berries, cooked in sugar syrup and then dried. They are widely used in the confectionery industry, both for filling and for decorating various rolls, muffins and cakes. But they can be eaten, like regular fruits. Especially in the winter season, you must definitely include candied fruits in the diet, the benefits of which are obvious - in winter there are few fruits and there is an acute shortage of vitamins. Although candied fruit is dried fruit, it is still better than nothing. Even after cooking in syrup and drying, they retain quite a lot of vitamins and nutrients, which are so necessary in the winter.

But, many still doubt whether candied fruit is useful. But really, what do we know about candied fruits, besides what is it all about? Candied fruits, the benefits and harms of which are unknown to us, we actively eat ourselves and feed our children with these sweets. And indeed, those who believe that candied fruits are harmful are partly right. Of course, if the fruits are prepared strictly according to technology, then they are useful. Are you sure that when buying candied fruits in the store, you are buying dried fruits? Have you ever seen a pineapple green or red? If you see bright and colorful candied fruits on a shelf in a store, be sure that they contain chemical dyes that cannot be called useful.

But the use of dyes in the production of candied fruits is still not so scary. It is much worse when, under the guise of candied fruit, we buy pure chemistry, in which there is no fruit at all. Real candied fruits will never have a bright and saturated color. You just think, what color will be the fruit that is first cooked and then dried? Of course, there can be no talk of any bright and attractive colors after such procedures. Buying candied fruits in the store, their benefit and harm is unknown to us. But it’s easy to check at home what we actually bought. To check, it is enough to pour dried fruit slices with warm water and leave for several hours. If dyes were used in the production, then the water will certainly be colored, and candied fruit will lose its "salable" appearance. And if fruits were not used at all in the production of these sweets, then such candied fruits can even dissolve in water. Often in the shops you can find "candied fruits", which look like something in between fruit and jam. It is better to refuse such a purchase.

Candied fruits, the benefits and harms of which make you doubt, of course it is better not to buy. But how to choose a really high-quality product? Before buying, of course, you need to touch candied fruit, if packaging allows you to do this. A quality product should not release moisture when squeezed, but at the same time, candied fruits should not be too hard. Choose candied fruits that have a natural color. Dyes are certainly not very good, but it is already difficult to find products without dyes and flavors. Do not buy dried fruits by weight, as there is no certainty that they are elementary clean. It is best to buy fruits that are laid out on plastic trays and packaged in plastic. Make sure that candied fruits in the tray are not sticky. A tight lump, indicates a violation of cooking technology.

Of course, it is better to cook candied fruits on your own, the benefits and harms of which will be known to you. More precisely, such candied fruits will only be useful and not harmful in any way. To make candied fruits with your own hands, you do not need to have a house in the village or a cottage, you can even make them in the apartment. The cooking process is very simple, for this it is only enough to purchase berries, fruits or vegetables from which you will make candied fruits. Let them not be as beautiful as in a store, but you will be sure that they are really useful. Such candied fruits will be much more pleasant to chew on a winter evening watching your favorite movie or to bake a pie stuffed with candied fruits of your own preparation.
