Vegetarianism. Pros and cons

Nikita Sergeevich liked to say, “No tastier fish in the world than pork sausage.” Researchers argue that the human body is generally not adapted to digest foods such as meat. Vegetarianism, the pros and cons - this question It is constantly being discussed, but there is still no unequivocal opinion so far.

Today, no more than 3 out of 10 people think about their diet. During an intensive working day, most of us manage with some “snacks”. Inexpensive, fast (often this is the main factor) and, of course, satisfying. In the era of the fantastic popularity of fast food and the serious problem of being overweight, people seriously wondered: "What are we eating?" Of the infinite number of disputes, the most acute can be distinguished - is vegetarianism good ?.

Plato, Seneca, Pythagoras not only preferred, but even preached vegetarianism as the only true method of nutrition. Later, it took the form of a fashionable diet, and only now vegetarianism has grown into a kind of lifestyle or even philosophy. Vegetarians can be divided into vegans and lacto-vegetarians. Strict do not eat fish, meat, eggs, milk and honey. Lacto-vegetarians allow themselves to consume any dairy products and eggs. There is also a separate course of this culture - these are vegetarians who eat only fruits and different types of nuts.

Vegetarianism, the pros and cons of which are opposed by entire communities, continues to be a controversial topic. Very often, the question “is vegetarianism useful” reduces to the fact that it is abnormal and extremely unnatural to infringe on one's diet, which means that nothing good will follow from this. Although the word “infringe” is extremely controversial, since more than 200 vegetables are used in the vegetarian diet, and there are still fruits and nuts.

When switching to vegetarianism, "where to start?" - perhaps the main question. The main goal is to abandon the sources of animal protein, that is, meat. If this is excluded, it must be replaced with an alternative - vegetable protein. Nuts, beans, cauliflower and wheat are the richest sources of protein and are available to everyone. There are no problems with the menu either. Contrary to the belief that vegetarian food is fresh and tasteless, you can find a lot of varied and rich recipes. All this, of course, is interesting and useful, but not always.

Scientists say that whether we want it or not, the human body simply needs animal protein in at least 30% of its regular diet. If you adhere to strict vegetarianism for many years, then even a completely healthy person as a result will earn hypovitaminosis, a lack of zinc, iron and vitamins. Nutritionists strictly prohibit vegetarianism for children. Such food can irreversibly slow down the process of physical development of the child. This is most likely the strongest argument against vegetarianism. Americans argue that rejection of meat reduces by 90% the likelihood of diseases of the cardiovascular system and cancer. And the world famous doctor Irving Fisher conducted research and found that the stamina of a person who refused meat is more than 30% higher than that of completely healthy people who use animal protein. Everything else must take into account an extremely important fact. Before slaughter, animals are literally stuffed with a huge amount of chemicals, so the absolute benefit of such meat is also very, very doubtful.

Continuing the theme of vegetarianism, the pros and cons, it is worth clarifying that a large number of people choose such food instead of diets. Nutritionists recommend, scientists prove, but the main thing is to do everything wisely. After all, this is elementary. A vegetable salad in no way will give you as many chances to recover as fried potatoes with chop, sprinkled with delicious mayonnaise with a fat content of more than 50%.

Many vegetarians have changed their food far from the pursuit of an ideal figure. Most of us, biting a sausage or cutting off a piece of fresh meat, do not think at what price this nutritious joy came to your table. For the sake of satiety, animals are killed non-stop. It is important for you or not - this is everyone’s business, but for people who refuse meat, this plays a significant role. Therefore, the first thing an experienced person will advise you is to think about the world around you first, and about yourself later. Thinking about what vegetarianism is for and where to start changing your diet, you need to understand what nutrition is more than just a fashionable diet. Most likely, vegetarianism, the pros and cons will remain controversial for a long time.
