Intel can not cope with the demand for processors. HP and Dell suffer as a result

According to Marketwatch, the largest computer manufacturers are dissatisfied with Intel, which can not cope with the growth of orders. HP and Dell have published reports that indicate a likely deterioration due to a lack of Intel chips.

The situation with Intel processors will not allow companies to take full advantage of the Christmas season. The dissatisfaction of HP and Dell could lead to the fact that they refuse Intel services in favor of AMD chips, experts are convinced.

What happened

The end of the year and the holiday season is a time of increased demand for computers. Also, growth was recorded in the corporate segment - this contributes to the completion of support for Windows 7 (companies need new computers).

Intel does not cope with such a high demand and does not manage to produce enough chips. As a result, the business of computer manufacturers is suffering, which could seriously increase revenue.

Intel acknowledges the presence of problems, but they say that it is still not possible to solve them. According to Intel CEO Bob Swan, the market growth exceeded the company's expectations, as a result of which it was not able to create stocks of components. As a result, it is unlikely that it will be possible to restore the balance between supply and demand in the fourth quarter.

How the situation will affect HP and Dell

HP is confident that the lack of supply of processors will adversely affect revenue in the current quarter. It is November and December that are the most profitable months of the year. Consumers are actively buying computers, including as a gift, but the company will not be able to physically produce enough of them.

The company was forced to lower its quarterly earnings forecast from $ 0.55- $ 0.59 to $ 0.53- $ 0.56 per share. Annual earnings will fall from $ 2.24- $ 2.32 to $ 2.18- $ 2.22 per share.

Dell also explained to investors that the company will not be able to maintain the supply of PCs for the corporate and consumer segments at the right level. The company also cut its revenue forecast.

On the day the news comes out, HP Inc. shares fell by 1.3%. Dell quotes fell 1.6%

Prospects

Analysts believe that despite the financial problems of HP and Dell, worried more costs investors who invested in Intel. An unsuccessful ending of the year may push the largest computer manufacturers to change the processor supplier - AMD is the clear alternative here.
