The focus of the set
The set is reusable and allows you to “produce” such spoons in just half an hour:
Now, in detail about each ingredient in the kit:
Gallium
This metal can be bought on the Internet quite easily, although the price is not small. I managed to buy 1 kg of metal for 22,000 rubles. To make a spoon, a little more than 30 grams is required. But since with each repetition of the focus a small amount will be lost, I decided to put 40 grams of gallium in the set. Try to google on request "buy gallium" and you will find many offers.
Syringe
A syringe is suitable for the most common disposable 5 ml. You can buy it for 5 rubles, if you take small wholesale.
Silicone
Translucent silicone is needed so that it can be seen through the gap as metal fills the mold. In addition, the silicone must be platinum based. This will allow him to be more elastic and durable. Such silicone is two-component and freezes when two reagents are mixed. One set will take 250 grams, 125 grams of each component.
I found a Russian manufacturer , it is cheaper than an American one and the quality is satisfactory for this task. The cost of 1 kg of silicone is 1,600 rubles.
Plexiglass
Plexiglass or clear acrylic glass is used to make the case. The case consists of 5 layers, while such a design seemed to me more suitable. Plexiglas is used in three different thicknesses. The table shows the numbers of the supplier I found in Moscow:
Hardware
To fix many layers of the case between them, I decided to use furniture ties. They look pretty and are inexpensive. You can buy screeds in Leroy Merlin - 4 screeds will cost 30 rubles.
Set production stages
In short, you need to:
- produce two silicone molds for one set;
- cut the case layers on a laser from plexiglass;
- fasten them with furniture ties;
- fill the syringe with gallium;
- assemble the kit and pack.
I’ll write about the stages of production another time in detail.
Selling price
Now about sales. I want to position the set in an expensive segment and stimulate sales with discounts. In this scheme, intermediaries and retail stores are completely placed.
Since the product is quite unusual and rare, I will sell the kit at these prices:
- 19 500 rub. - retail price;
- 9 750 rub. - price with a 50% discount;
- 7 500 rub. - pre-order price.
The average bill is 10,000 rubles.
Profit
As I said at the very beginning, I’ll take profits like this: revenue minus direct costs. In this case, direct costs will be the costs of production costs, production, advertising and sales.
Everything is clear with raw materials, while I will carry out production myself at home or in the garage. I will start selling from my old customers, then I will connect online sales, and after intermediaries.
Total for the year I would like to sell at least 100 sets. With an average check of 10,000 rubles. the turnover will be 1,000,000 rubles. The profit or, in my case, the margin (the difference between honey selling and direct costs) will be 50% (while I think so, but the first sales will clarify this figure). Total profit for the year 500,000 rubles.
What do I base such reasoning on? On sales of his past Quantum Levitation kit. It sold exactly 100 pieces.
How the kit was developed from beginning to end I described in detail in a previous article.
