Smart technology for everyone

Giants of the IT industry today use different corporate strategies: some focus on environmental friendliness and environmental conservation, reducing the carbon footprint, others focus on reuse of products and recycling of materials, and the “closed-loop economy”. Still others emphasize corporate ethics, gender equality and minority rights.

“Smart technology for all” is the name given to Lenovo's global campaign , which aims to increase access to technology for the general public. This campaign with a budget of several million dollars spreads over 12 markets and population groups that speak 14 languages. The start of the campaign took place in September 2019, and the concept of “Smart Technologies for All” (Smarter Technology for All) illustrates the next wave of intelligent technologies that has already “covered” our planet.

What, in fact, are we talking about? Flagship models of leading smartphone manufacturers worth under 100 thousand rubles. or gaming PCs, the price of which also “bites,” is definitely a different story. But equipping refugee camps with WiFi access and equipment for educational centers in Africa is already closer to the philosophy of this campaign. But not only, such actions formed its basis.

It is worth recognizing that Smart Technologies for All is not a charity program, but, first of all, a brand promotion campaign. Moreover, the Lenovo team developed this largest coordinated and multi-channel campaign in record time, which was not easy to do in a complex global environment with many participants and stakeholders.

Now it covers more than a dozen markets and, depending on the region, provides for outdoor advertising, advertising in cinema, television and digital networks, and also applies to social networks. Key markets include China, USA, UK, Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Russia, Japan, India, Brazil and Mexico.

Made wisely

We live in an era of “intellectual” technology. Smart phones, smart glasses, a smart home, and even a smart refrigerator. It is difficult to list all those devices that in recent years have suddenly "found their mind." Smart technologies are a powerful trend in recent years. Gadgets, cars, apartments, houses, and even entire cities are getting smarter. Smart technologies can ensure the efficient consumption of resources, have a significant impact on the development of cities and communities.

Today, a large number of people, enterprises and communities can use the capabilities of artificial intelligence and increasingly intelligent devices, which allows them to carry out their own “intellectual transformation”. As the world's largest PC company and supplier of supercomputers, Lenovo produces a wide range of connected devices and of course pays serious attention to the development and use of so-called intelligent computing. “Smart technology for all” is the achievement of real, meaningful results with the help of advanced technologies.

According to Quinn O'Brien, Lenovo Vice President of Global Brand:

“This is the benchmark by which we compare our innovations and creativity. We believe that the term smart technologies best describes new opportunities. It defines and directs everything that we do and what we get as a result. ”

Smart technologies are gradually changing our world today, and I would like this to lead not to the appearance of a terminator, but to the creation of a more equitable digital society with wide opportunities for everyone. Lenovo operates in 180 markets with millions of customers around the world, and this is a unique variety, diverse culture and unique opportunities to offer something valuable “for everyone”.

After all, technologies can be used in such a way as not only to create smart electronic assistants or new types of entertainment, but to solve the most ambitious and complex problems of humanity, for example, supercomputers already help control climate change today. This requires extensive industry collaboration, the use of computing resources and cloud infrastructure.

Lenovo integrates smart features into its devices to make them intuitive, smart, and efficient. In addition, accessibility of technology is important. There are well-known brands that can say that they have the best devices in the world, but, as already noted, these products are available to everyone. The ultimate goal is to make modern digital technologies available to almost everyone.

Scholarship for young innovators

In partnership with One Young World, a UK-based nonprofit organization, Lenovo announced the Smart Technology for All Fellowship . The scholarship helps young innovators take part in the World Summit in London, where thousands of participants from more than 190 countries share their ideas with each other and with world leaders working to accelerate social development.

Funded by Lenovo, this scholarship is designed for applicants aged 18 to 30 who show prominent leadership and influence in their community. It aims to expand access to education and technology. In addition, those who have a tangible impact on their community, country or world as part of one of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are considered candidates. Young scholarship holders are becoming part of the global community of their colleagues, future leaders of government organizations and business leaders.

Technology and life

Technology should make life better and work more productive. They should help solve urgent problems for the whole world that affect the way we live, study, work and heal. Technology penetrates into all spheres of our lives, making innovations accessible to people of any culture, with any income level. It remains only to believe that the technologies of the future will help to implement real, significant changes.

Lenovo customers from a wide range of industries - from healthcare to engineering and motorsport - face completely different challenges, but they are united by intelligent technologies that help overcome problems and push existing boundaries. The latest, advanced solutions allow you to get real benefits - from better treatment to faster and more effective construction, to achieve new results in sports. They should bring real benefits to all people, regardless of their age or income.

States also invest significant budgetary funds in the development of smart technologies and the implementation of smart systems. The result should be improved service to citizens, lower costs, energy saving and increased energy efficiency, integration and development of renewable energy sources in the urban environment.

Smart devices

The slogan “Smart Technologies for All” also reflects Lenovo’s desire to talk about its plans to develop new technologies. As you know, Lenovo is developing a variety of “smart” devices - PCs, tablets, virtual reality devices, and even supercomputers. In recent years, she has created a number of similar devices, including a convertible laptop (Yoga), a tablet PC and a smart display with a built-in Google Assistant.

Today, not only devices are turning into intelligent systems, but also homes and even entire cities. Digital transformation affects a variety of areas: healthcare, education, energy, transport, resource management and urban space, helps to shape a new quality of cities in the face of a slowdown in economic growth and budget deficits. Therefore, issues of developing smart technologies that have a transforming impact on society come to the fore.

Lenovo Mirage AR - new augmented reality experience

Star Wars: The Jedi Trials (Wars: Jedi Challenges) is a video game based on the canonical Star Wars universe in the augmented reality genre, created by the joint efforts of Disney and Lenovo. Headset Lenovo Mirage AR - corresponds to the theme of "Star Wars". It uses a phone display and a two-way mirror to reflect the image on two lenses in front of the eyes, which creates the illusion of a hologram of objects “floating” around in real space.

The Lenovo Lightsaber controller is an exact replica of the weapons used in Star Wars. It also serves to control the interface and connects to the phone via Bluetooth, transmitting data from the gyroscope, accelerometer, button presses, and tracking the movement of the weapon itself.

Another gadget tracking beacon is a soft white ball on a black plastic base. There are LEDs inside the ball, and as the gamer experience increases, the color will change. Two cameras on the front of the headset are equipped with fisheye lenses, and with the help of a beacon combine the virtual world with the physical.

The headset of the Lenovo Star Wars: Jedi Challenges kit is very convenient. Transparent glass at the bottom of the headset combines the virtual world with the physical: this will avoid a collision with objects and walls. The latest technology is combined with the availability and ease of updating the application for smartphones.

The Lenovo Star Wars: Jedi Challenges Kit is suitable for children and Star Wars fans.

After the successful release of Star Wars: Jedi Challenges, Lenovo and Marvel gave their fans the opportunity to plunge into the world of superheroes with a new game - Marvel Dimension of Heroes, which is available only on Lenovo Mirage AR.
