Wooden Toys, Part Five - 1991

In 1991, more and more games came out with VGA support, although EGA still held onto and not many games demanded VGA. For me, in 1991, the period of excommunication from the RS began. Regular access was replaced by episodic, began to spend much more time for MSX at school. On the PC, to which there was access, there was pascal, not toys. It was also interesting, but still took place in another department.

Another world

Out of this World for Americans. A rather short game, which was greatly extended by the fact that they wanted to kill you on every screen. A bunch of ways. But it was still interesting - beautiful graphics, smooth animation, dumb plot.

Sid meier's civilization

The game of those that I categorize as eternal. And, despite all sorts of fifths and sixths, the number of hours played in the first is still more. And it continues to increase, even on a tablet. True, playing there is not very convenient, but bearable.

Crisis in the Kremlin

A slightly belated ideological sabotage - in the year of the release of the game, the USSR was already ruined. And so - the game begins in 1985, the reins of the USSR, budget management engines and crises raining one after another are awarded. Hunger, Chernobyl, strikes, the collapse of the country ... At the same time, the message of famine in the USSR is accompanied by news that "hunger was defeated forever in the USA." Until 1991, the crises are historical, and then begins the fantasy and the repetition of the old. Chernobyl exploded several times. The collapse of the country here is inevitable, you can only slightly delay. And with the separation of the republics, the budget is reduced, it is necessary to cut spending, new crises - and again, someone is separated. My record - somewhere up to 2040 reached, remaining with one Moscow region in the end.

Dangerous Dave in the Haunted Mansion

Dangerous Dave. Not the first in the series and not the last. But for many - the first and only. A shotgun with eight rounds of ammunition, enemies who kill in different - and shown large - ways and a haunted house. What else is needed for a good game?

Jones in the fast lane

A simple career growth simulator. You study, work, move up the posts. The goal is to score some points. The game is so-so, but pulled out in multiplayer mode on one computer.

Commander Keen 4: Secret of the Oracle

There were six kin, but it was the fourth that I remembered. Not very sophisticated, but addictive arcade.

Lemmings

It is necessary to lead a crowd of unknown animals to the exit. The animals constantly stick forward. Hundreds of levels of the original game, additions and sequels. When the animals especially got out with their stupidity, the button "to blow everyone up" came to the rescue.

Metal mutant

Game from Silmarils. The story of the adventures of the Roboroth were a cyborg dinosaur tank. With different possibilities, what are the puzzles in the game based on. Additional abilities are acquired by cartridges along the way, and the final battle is just a quick demonstration of the abilities displayed on the screen. Well and the ending in the spirit of Diablo.

Boston bomb club

Another game from Silmarils - they generally had a lot of games with interesting gameplay. Not always good at execution, but the idea was usually not bad. Here is an obstacle field through which a bomb with a burning wick must be led. In addition to the field itself, spectators interfere by switching traps on the field.

Paperboy 2

The goal is to deliver the newspaper to subscribers in a couple of blocks. Difficulties - the newspaper must be accurately thrown into the box. If you do not hit, then to the next level, the subscription will be canceled. Well, along the way, all kinds of cars, lawn mowers, dogs, guns, zombies, monsters from the sewer and other daily adversities of an ordinary newspaper carrier get in the way.

Prehistorik

Funny arcade. The goal is to fill the stomach, killing and eating enemies.

Scorched earth

The game went with the subtitle "The mother of all games." There were many implementations, but this one - before the release of Worms - was the most popular. Field, several tanks are exchanged fire in turns. Several types of weapons, the influence of the environment (wind, gravity, screen boundaries, landscape) made the game very interesting, despite the simple graphics. Colors were sacrificed for permission. It wasn’t interesting to play with a computer; he was either a sniper or very dumb - despite a dozen different types of AI. With people it was many times more interesting.

Space Quest IV: Roger Wilco and the Time Rippers

The fourth part of Space Quest, now in VGA and with mouse control. In the same year, the first part was reprinted in VGA, but the second and third were not awarded.

Supaplex

The very implementation of Boulder Dash, which was spent a lot of time. 111 built-in levels, and then homemade went.

Wing Commander II: Vengeance of the Kilrathi

The second part of Wing Commander'a - even more plot with the same amount of simulator.

Personal "Golden Fund":

Another world

Civilization

Dangerous dave

Supaplex

Wing commander ii

Everyone works on the laptop, except that Wing Commander again wants a slower computer.

And supaplex has no bottom dashboard. In general, the laptop’s graphics card is not so compatible with old toys.

It’s not impossible to play, as some people have, but in some places there are such graphic artifacts.
