TechTrain 2019: Free Live Streaming

Of course, it is better to attend the IT festival in person, rather than watch his reports on video. So many things are happening on the site that according to some reports you can’t even make an impression of the event.

But we understand that not everyone can attend the festival (for example, due to the fact that Russia is big ). Therefore, some TechTrain reports can be seen anywhere simultaneously with the audience in the hall: on August 24 (Saturday) there will be an open online broadcast from the main hall. Under the cat they wrote about those reports that get into it.

12:00 - 12:45 Ivan Yamshchikov - Pride and Prejudice. Why do we think we are smart?

You can remember Ivan from last year's TechTrain. There, his report, “How Data Turns into Knowledge and Why Being Dreamy - One of the Most Important Skills” became one of the best rated by viewers. The topic of the new report sounds completely different, but it, like the previous one, is related to machine learning. How is biological intelligence different from artificial, and why are we even sure what is different?

13:15 - 14:00 John Romero - Quake Postmortem

When you see a masterpiece, it seems that when it was created, everything went as it should (and not as usual). Since such a wonderful result was obtained - apparently, a team of great people gathered with a clear plan and implemented it strictly on schedule? Of course, in fact, everything is more complicated, and grandiose things can occur even in a nightmarish environment (filming the legendary "Apocalypse Today" was an apocalypse in itself).

Therefore, it is interesting to know how the work on one of the most famous games of all time was going on. And who can tell about this better than the person who took a direct part in this work?

14:30 - 15:15 Grigory Bakunov - AI vs. AI

Again about machine learning, but now from a different angle. Although the neurons have given much to humanity, they cannot be called infallible (Google Photos still takes cats for dogs). Is it possible to achieve AI error intentionally? If so, what may be the scale of the manipulations? Have similar cases already occurred?

This will be talked about by bobuk , known for many things (someone knows him from the Radio-T podcast, someone from the addmeto telegram channel, someone from Yandex activities).

15:45 - 16:30 Venkat Subramaniam - Twelve ways to make code suck less

Usually Venkat speaks to the Javists, and then he does not need to be represented - in the Java world he is very much appreciated. But from what he is talking about, much is applicable far beyond this world.

Therefore, his report on TechTrain will be without a rigid binding to a specific language. Venkat saw a lot of code in his life, including the problem code - and he’ll talk about problems. What antipatterns are worth highlighting and doing without them?

17:00 - 17:45 Anton Arkhipov - (Not) adequate technical interview

Issues related to hiring, obviously sore. The conversations “there are tormented by algorithms and this is wrong” can be heard regularly. But at the same time, there is no obvious answer to the question “how correctly”, and sitting on the other side of the table is also not easy. What questions should be asked to determine the competencies of the candidate, and which are really strange game? And what to answer strange game?

You can watch the live stream on the TechTrain website .

The reports included in it are only part of all that will be on TechTrain. If you wanted to know “which ones will not get and are available only personally”, you can see the full program . And if it became interesting “what else will be at the event, apart from reports” - we published a separate post about this.
