1C: ERP VS 1C: KA 2.0. What should food manufacturers choose?

The news of the cancellation of support for industry solutions 1C: SCP came "unexpectedly." And really took by surprise hundreds of industrial enterprises across the country, for a long time successfully working on the familiar platform. Discussions on the topic of “why” and “why” literally blew up the Internet. However, as they say, “you will not help with tears,” therefore today is not about that at all.



Urgent question: what to switch to? Here we will answer it and we will.



In need of changes, 1C did not leave a choice. But the ways of retreat can be considered different. Not even so: it must be done so as not to miscalculate and not to be in a situation of inconsistency of tasks in the enterprise with the tools for solving them. Seems like this is unrealistic? (“After all, others somehow work” / “After all, 1C knows what it offers”). I will not get ahead of myself. I will describe the options, and the conclusions are yours.

Recall the essence: 1C: ERP - the flagship solution of 1C, aimed at automating the full list of business processes in the enterprise. 1C: KA is its “truncated” and, as a result, cheaper version for trading companies. Or those who do not really care about detailed operational accounting. For example, if its customization is not required.



However, if we limited ourselves to comparison, then we would have got an article “for all” and “nothing”, and we write directly for you food industry workers. Therefore, considering each of the options, we will focus on the features of the tasks of a food enterprise on an industrial scale.

ERP and spacecraft are equally suitable for this. The distribution of costs in these two systems occurs in different ways, but in the presence of operational units (just distinguishing production enterprises from purely trading ones), all distribution is usually done there.





This is where typical ERPs and spacecraft begin to resist. Not even that: a spacecraft for accounting in a manufacturing company alone will not cope by definition. And even more so food, where production is complicated by a mass of DIFFERENT features for each type of product, as well as the norms and requirements of external controllers (for example, for milkmen, accounting for raw materials in several units of measure, as well as maintaining a fat balance). There simply is no unit for solving operational problems.



Therefore, in the last 4 years we have been focusing solely on the tasks of food industry workers and in the operational production circuit, we single out the following groups of tasks for which, in the typical variants considered, there is practically no required functionality:



  1. Operational prescription control during the formation of sets / sets of raw materials, spices or ingredients;
  2. Operational control of technological parameters of production (temperature, processing time);
  3. Operational accounting of losses and yields at each technological redistribution of production;
  4. Accounting for quality and laboratory industry analyzes at each technological stage of production;
  5. Batch accounting of movement and consumption of raw materials and industrial semi-finished products to ensure traceability (read food safety);

An industry solution can help in part. But, when you are going to use it, at the initial stage you need to have a sound understanding of what you want to get from the transition in the end. And again (I repeat once again!), First find out the full range of capabilities of this typical system. And also try on this functionality on yourself, so that later it would not be excruciatingly painful for wasted money / time / nerves for “under-implementation”.



Unfortunately, most enterprises forget about this and pay attention only to regulated tasks. And too late they come to the conclusion that if production has any industry specifics, then it does not make sense to run it on a typical ERP.



And yet, if the union “standard + industry solution (also standard)” is, then if there is an industry part, the production unit in ERP is not in demand. And it’s easier to take the spacecraft, which is 4 times cheaper.



To summarize a subtotal : the financial (regulated) block is obvious and understandable. EPP and KA will cope. It is more important to pay attention to how to automate warehouse processes, trade, planning, operational accounting in production. And this typical functionality will neither cover the EPP nor the spacecraft.



It is important to remember that if the solution is called "standard", this does not mean at all that it is suitable for everyone. And it is useless to try to squeeze into the template if there were not originally laid the possibilities of supporting that functionality that is specific to your production.

So decide for yourself : take a ready-made solution and integrate it with a high-quality 1C product or cut all in one system for an infinitely long time.
