Lamptest: New Year's miracle, update, big plans

Lamptest.ru LED lamp testing project has been operating for two and a half years. During this time, more than 1,700 lamp models have been tested, and the number of thanks from people who use the site is no longer counted.

The project constantly receives small donations from users, the maximum of which was 10,000 rubles. Just before the New Year, Anonymous sent a fairly large Donat. This will make the project even better and test even more light sources. The first changes occurred today.

To begin with, we changed the input form of the parameters, which many have long requested. Now the brands and filter fields are aligned and the desired brand has become easier to find, and it is more convenient to use filters. The “Final Grade” filter is added, the “Efficiency, Angle, Diameter, Height” filters are removed - they were used quite rarely and those who need them can simply sort the table by clicking on the appropriate heading. A voltage sorting error was detected and corrected - now the sorting takes place according to the maximum value of the declared voltage, and the filter operates simultaneously on the minimum measured voltage and voltage declared by the manufacturer.

Until today, the input form looked like this:

And now, as in the title picture. In my opinion it has become much more convenient.

The heading of the results table is now duplicated after the table for convenience.

Now the list of ideas for implementation on the site looks like this:

- Add a list of used devices to the lamp card;

- Make comments on lamp cards and articles;

- Make it possible to exclude rows and columns from the table.

I hope most of this can be implemented.

For the future, there is an idea to add to the site the results of testing batteries and batteries of various types that have already been made and begin to systematically test various batteries.

I invented and made a simple device called Lamptest-1, which measures the change in the luminous flux, and also allows you to approximately measure the luminous flux of the lamps. I want to add to it also the measurement of the level of pulsation. Be sure to talk about it separately.

I will try now to devote the project two days a week, test 100 new lamps per month, and write on the article every two weeks. In addition to lamps, we will test various LED lamps and even chandeliers.

But of course there’s not enough for me. I want to try to find an assistant who, for a small monthly fee, will be able to do some of the work of testing, buying and delivering lamps to stores, and entering data into the database.

And, of course, I'm looking for volunteers for everything related to the project. It is necessary to negotiate with the manufacturers of lamps to get them to the test. You need to buy lamps in stores, and then, if possible, take them back. You need to photograph the lamp, measure their size, weight and make the base. Need to test individual parameters.

Today I added 45 new lamp data to the site. Another 42 lamps are already with me and will be tested soon.

I will be glad to any constructive proposals for the development of the project and the site and any help.

PS I want to express my gratitude to programmer Sergey Andreev, who created a fast, easy and universal website with pure enthusiasm (Lamptest does not use any ready-made engines), Andrei Karasev, who has been helping me with the results processing for two years, Denis Kiche and Matthew Ivanov for creating the formula counting the final grade, Anonymous for a generous donation, by all the users of the site, who give a lot of valuable advice and help the project.
