Yaga is a role-playing game with a charming narrative, dedicated to the wonderful world of Slavic culture and folklore. You play as a one-armed blacksmith, “torn” between the jealous king, who makes impossible tasks, and the ancient witch protecting the supernatural world.
The game takes place in the universe of Slavic tales. This is the world of the 14th century through the eyes of Eastern European peasants: it is full of pagan beliefs, domestic spirits, unclean creatures, superstitions and magic.
The game was created by Breadcrumbs Interactive (Romania). Here's what they say about the idea of creating a game:
“When we started brainstorming ideas for a new game, we decided to mix our love for bagels with our love for narrative and choice-based games. Then, memories of fairy tales that adorned our childhood began to emerge - magical, charming, gloomy or funny, scary, moody, amazing or cruel. These were not Western ordinary stories about Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood, but about Baba Yaga - the witch, Koschey the Immortal and Vasilisa the Beautiful "
In the game, you can create and improve your arsenal of weapons and tools, pump your reputation, which leads to various interactions with villagers and non-player characters, discovering secrets, trading options or giving the game curses or blessings to the character.
Pagan beliefs and superstitions are the key to revealing hidden secrets, getting domestic spirits by your side or avoiding the strong curses of unclean creatures. You can also discover and combine many talismans and artifacts that change the player’s abilities and gameplay
The choice between the levels allows the player to influence the complexity and level of the game, and the unique soundtrack with the participation of underground folklore group Subcarpati and their co-authors will not leave anyone indifferent.
Of course, one of the gems on the Apple Arcade platform, but don’t worry, the game will be released on Steam and other platforms, but for now I propose to enjoy an excerpt from the gameplay.
