One day at Joker 2019

October 25-26, literally two days later, in St. Petersburg on the territory of the Expoforum will be held Joker 2019 - the international Java-conference for hardcore Java-developers.

This time, the interest in it turned out to be such that the last tickets remain now - so if you are also interested, now is the time to hop on this train. But if you cannot attend the conference for some reason, we have partial consolation: an open broadcast of the first hall on the first day. About why bother watching the broadcast, we have a separate post .

So on October 25 at 9:30 a.m. (Moscow time) it will be possible to follow the link under the cut (owls, of course, will have to wake up a little earlier than usual). Under the cut, we will discuss what is there at the conference, which is not broadcast.

Crime scene

The broadcast page is waiting for this red button-link:

A video player and a program of the first room are available. The player will come to life only in the morning of October 25, now it shows unlimited nothing.

Evidence, i.e. reports

A joint opening report by Juergen Hoeller and Josh LongReactive Spring revisited ”, in which a live encoding session is expected on Spring Framework 5.2 using Spring Boot 2.2, it will be especially useful to see how from one of the founders of Spring Framework and, perhaps, the main Spring Developer Advocate in the world should look like the creation of a new generation of reactive microservices for cloud architectures.

Simon Ritter ’s second report, Keeping up with Java: Look at all these new features! ". Simon, along with the audience, will consider some of the new features in the latest Java. It will also address issues of improving the deployment of Java and issues of migrating applications from earlier versions to current ones.

Josh Long will continue the program with his performance “ Bootiful testing ”. You can dive with Josh in the abyss of TDD using the example of testing the main components, feel the mockups

and consider how to ensure that manufacturers and consumers APIs work together using consumer-driven contract testing (CDCT) without sacrificing a test pyramid for end-to-end integration tests.

Nikita Koval ndkoval , one of the members of the Kotlin team, will give a lecture “ Testing multithreaded algorithms using Lincheck ”. Nikita in his report will talk about the Lincheck tool, which helps in testing and debugging multi-threaded code, affects the API and the internal device. Considering that debugging multi-threaded code is not the easiest task, mastering a new tool will not be superfluous.

During the fifth lecture, Juergen Hoeller will once again take the stage with a lecture entitled “ Spring Framework 5.2: Core container revisited .” Juergen will focus on core tools for optimized application architectures in modern Java-enabled deployment environments, as well as Kotlin as the basis for higher-level features in Spring Data and Spring Boot.

And Baruch Sadogursky jbaruchDevOps for developers (or against them ?!) ” will make the final keynote. In this report, Baruch suggests talking about why developers need or don't need DevOps. We will look at the arguments that the ideologues of DevOps give, and decide whether they are wealthy or not. By the end of the report, we hope that it will become clear to us whether this is really a way that will help us (developers) deliver the best code in products more often, or is this, as always, the layout of marketers and evangelists.

In the broadcast between speeches there will be small interviews with speakers. We will talk about their reports, and about what remains behind the scenes - about workdays, interesting tasks and contingencies.

That which cannot be

What will be in the broadcast, we examined above, and what is available only to those who come personally?

At the conference, dissenting speakers will be attacked in discussion areas. This is one of the most important actions at the conference. The speaker has already set the stage, created the mood and is ready to answer many questions, argue and explain his position. The juice itself, you can dive deeper into the topic with an expert. There are frequent cases of fierce battles between opponents of different approaches to the implementation of various tasks.

At the end of the first day (and this will not be broadcast), after the main program, mini-presentations will be held during the party. Every ten minutes a speaker enters the stage with slides, and this is his finest hour: perhaps we will observe the birth of new Joker stars. If you are one of these, and you have something to say, feel free to send an application - you still have time.

Four BOF sessions will also not be broadcast. BOF is now the traditional format for JUG Ru Group conferences. Improvised discussion groups or something like round tables in which everyone can participate. There is no division by speaker and participant: everyone participates on an equal footing.

In addition to the BOF sessions, full-time conference participants can communicate in an informal setting, discuss everything during the party, and also participate in the Mozgoboyne - a bar quiz of questions and answers.

And of course, behind the scenes there will be three rooms completely during the first day, as well as the second day of the conference.

Summarizing

After reading, you have three options for participation:

We look forward to seeing some of you offline, and with others online.
