Update KB4046355 removes Windows Media Player from Windows 10.

The update is offered only for 64-bit systems.



The new KB4046355 update for Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (x64), designated as FeatureOnDemandMediaPlayer, removes Windows Media Player from the operating system . The update has already rolled on the version of Windows 10 version 1709 on the channel Insider.



At the moment, it remains unclear whether this was done by mistake or whether it is a planned action by Microsoft. Therefore, it is impossible to say for sure that this update will continue to spread to stable versions of Windows 10, but this is quite possible, so users of Windows Media Player should be prepared.



Many ignore Windows Media Player in favor of faster and more convenient VLC Player or Media Player Classic (MPC). These people won't notice any changes at all, and maybe they will be glad that the unnecessary part has disappeared from the system. Well, the rest will have to install the program again.



After updating KB4046355, the program disappears from the context menus, and in the folder C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Windows Media Player only the wmp.dll file remains .



But nothing prevents you from reinstalling Windows Media Player from the Settings - Apps & features menu.
