In the vapor compression cycle, after the refrigerant evaporates inside the evaporative coil, the cooling gas is compressed and cooled, condensing under pressure to a liquid state. In contrast to this cycle, water evaporates in the evaporative cooler only once. Evaporated water in the cooling unit is discharged into the air cooled space. In the cooling tower, the evaporated water is carried away by the air flow.
