Appearance and equipment

ZenFone 3 Deluxe comes in the same box as Ultra : it opens like a box and the front tray opens with the power supply, cable and ZenEar S headset.

At the smartphone, I would say, the male design: there are practically no smooth edges, a minimum of curved surfaces - only the ends are made rounded, and the back cover is slightly convex.

The lens of the main camera millimeter and a half acts above the surface of the body. There is a flash to the left, an autofocus module to the right. The fingerprint scanner is slightly recessed so that it can be easily touched.

On the left side are the power and volume buttons.

On the right side there is a tray of SIM cards and a memory card, as well as a microphone hole. At the same time, you can insert either two SIM cards, or one SIM card and a memory card.

Above is a single audio jack.

And at the bottom there was a speaker, a power connector and a second microphone.

Like Ultra, Deluxe boasts an all-aluminum body without dielectric inserts. The main antenna is located in the lower part of the case (in the area of โ€‹โ€‹the touch buttons), and in the upper part (in the area of โ€‹โ€‹the front camera) are GPS, Wi-Fi and NFC antennas.

The entire front part is covered with flush-mounted glass. The display occupies almost the entire width of the front panel, on the sides there are only tiny fields with a width slightly greater than 1 mm.

From above and below - decorative registration with a company concentric pattern of Zen.

ZenFone 3 Deluxe comes in three colors:

Display

ZenFone 3 Deluxe is equipped with a 5.7-inch display, manufactured using Super AMOLED technology. Resolution 1920 x 1080. Protective glass - Gorilla Glass 4 with oleophobic coating. The width of the side frames of the display is very small, only 1.3 mm. The image has a very high contrast and a decent maximum brightness. The color gamut is more than 100% of the NTSC color space, while True2Life technologies are used in the smartphone, providing adaptive enhancement of color quality depending on the content. I really liked his color rendition, especially the color of the sky during the shooting. The colors are saturated, but not redundant, and even in the bright sun the image almost does not fade: the manufacturer claims a contrast level of 3,000,000: 1.

Sound

The smartphone has already applied the third version of the proprietary technology SonicMaster. This is a set of hardware and software solutions that allows you to achieve good sound as embedded 5-magnetic speakers, and the main audio section: ZenFone 3 Deluxe can play music in 192 kHz / 24 bit. I can say that the smartphone sounds as good as, for example, ZenFone 3 Zoom or ZenFone 3 Laser .

Photography

The main camera lens is covered with sapphire crystal. Matrix - Sony IMX 318 with a resolution of 23 megapixels. The camera supports HDR-shooting in real time. As with ZenFone 3 Ultra, Deluxe uses the TriTech Triple Tracking AF system: a combination of phase , servo and laser focus. Thanks to this trio, the smartphone focuses very quickly is able to โ€œcatchโ€ the fleeting moments. The maximum exposure time is 32 seconds. There are shooting modes time lapse and slow motion, also available in 4K video (3840x2160). The optical stabilizer is used only when taking photos, and the video is stabilized using an electronic 3-axis stabilizer. The RGB sensor combined with the flash module is responsible for color correction during shooting. It allows the camera to more accurately choose white balance.

Deluxe is equipped with a color correction sensor, due to which corrections are made to the color temperature of images during shooting. And the habitual feature has become HDR in real time: on the fly, the smartphone processes the image coming from the camera so that when you link up the scene live you see on the screen what the picture will look like in HDR mode.

Judging by the characteristics, the camera in the Deluxe is the same as in Ultra . Not surprisingly, in terms of ease of shooting and the quality of photos and videos, smartphones are equivalent.

Software

The smartphone runs Android 6.0 with a traditional Zen UI branded GUI that supports the ability to quickly install graphics themes.

Also in ZenFone 3 Deluxe there is a convenient function of constantly displaying the clock, date and several system icons on the screen of a locked smartphone: missed calls, messages and battery charge level.

The fingerprint scanner can be used not only to unlock the smartphone, but also to answer incoming calls and release the camera shutter.

Performance

ZenFone 3 Deluxe comes with a four-core 64-bit Snapdragon 820 , manufactured using a 14-nanometer process technology, and a 6 GB RAM. For processing graphics chip is responsible Adreno 530.

ZenFone 3 Deluxe uses technology to increase the efficiency of using RAM - OptiFlex. In the settings, you can specify up to 10 applications to which the OptiFlex will be applied, which should speed up their work. Apparently, the selected applications are permanently stored in RAM (in whole or in part), therefore, when they are loaded and working, calls to the system memory are less often performed.

As you understand, this smartphone is difficult to find a mobile application that will โ€œlandโ€ it on performance. 6 gigabytes of memory today, more than for the eyes, the processor is one of the top. So from the point of view of performance, there can be no complaints about Deluxe. The only thing you can complain about is not the most capacious battery - 3000 mAh. On the other hand, there are quite a few modern competitive models on the market that have even weaker batteries. With load testing โ€” surfing, music, casual browser games, reading, videos โ€” the charge level of ZenFone 3 Deluxe dropped from 100% to 20% in 6.5 hours.

Conclusion

ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe has become one of the first smartphones in the world to receive an all-metal case without dielectric inserts. It looks really more harmonious compared to many other smartphones, whose covers and body edges intersect the โ€œdesignerโ€ stripes. A powerful processor, as much as 6 GB of RAM, a 23-megapixel camera with an optical stabilizer and a triple autofocus system, an excellent audio system are attributes of a powerful modern smartphone with high performance and wide multimedia capabilities. The battery is not too large, but - let's not poke a finger - is not the smallest on the market. Also a nice bonus - although initially the smartphone came with Android 6.0, however, an official update to Android 7.0 is already available.
