Diet for an ulcer

What can I eat with a stomach ulcer? This is one of the first questions that a patient with such a diagnosis asks. For a very long time there was an opinion that an ulcer is provoked by errors in the diet and nervous strain. Today, doctors are increasingly inclined to believe that the main thing is to create adequate conditions for scarring of the ulcer, but if the healing process has started, then the food regimen is not necessary. But this is only the opinion of a few doctors.

Diet for gastritis and ulcer should primarily contribute to the healing of the wound surface. This can be done by increasing the calorie intake, mainly due to protein.

Be sure to include in the regime products containing vitamins A, C and B. This will help maintain the body at the proper level and activate all metabolic processes.

Fish, meat and seafood are the main suppliers of amino acids to the human body. Without these products, the normal functioning of organs and systems is impossible. However, it should be borne in mind that a diet with an ulcer should be sparing. Therefore, it is necessary to cook food steamed (or boil), while it is best to heat it a little longer than usual.

Diet with an ulcer is based on delivering as many nutrients to the body as possible, but at the same time, the digestion process should take place with minimal trauma. For this, patients are advised to break the entire daily diet not into 3 main meals, but into 5-6. In between, you can drink a glass of kefir or jelly.

Patients with peptic ulcer should not eat too hot or cold food, and it is advisable to refuse too salty, smoked and canned foods. Alcohol and carbonated drinks (including alcoholic drinks) are very irritating to the mucous membrane. Due to these circumstances, a diet with an ulcer should categorically exclude the above products.

Instead, patients are advised to drink more milk and kefir - these drinks create a protective layer on the mucosa, and have antacid properties.

Patients with peptic ulcer and gastritis often themselves know which of the products provoke an attack of pain and dyspeptic symptoms, and try to limit their intake. For example, statistics indicate that most patients with an ulcer practically cannot tolerate lemon and its juice (and many other acidic foods). This is due to a violation of acidity in the stomach when consuming these products.

Many patients tolerate white and red wines, but cannot drink champagne and beer. Very often, exacerbation of pain provokes chips, nuts, pistachios and other similar products.

The use of large quantities of mayonnaise and ketchup, even in a healthy person, causes discomfort in the stomach, and with an ulcer, this ensures exacerbation. Diet for ulcers should completely eliminate too fatty and rich broths and soups. A large amount of food at one time is unacceptable.

Correctly evaluate all the recommendations of a doctor. Too rigid diets must be followed during exacerbations until the healing process has begun. Then you can afford some not very healthy food.
