Chinese Jimu - the first SWIFT-friendly robots

Last week, I visited Robostation at the presentation of a strange robotic designer and only now something dawned on me why this is almost a historical event. Sorry, that I am sloppy.

Chinese UBTech, a leading corporation in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics, announced the arrival of the game learning humanoid robots Alpha 1 pro and Jimu robot designers on the Russian market. In principle, this is the same lego mind storm, but with one small difference, which I first took for granted - these designers are programmed in the SWIFT language. And even a computer is not needed for this - just download the child to the Swift Playground ipad and watch how he throws minecraft and starts to really KODIT. And code HARDKORNO.

No matter what they code there, you see what interest.

Yes, eight-year-old children code artificial intelligence for home robots in a high-level language with all the bells and whistles from databases to augmented reality frameworks. And in the Swift Playground, you can learn how to code in general without any help - this is its main function. In any case, at the presentation of robots almost five-year-olds coded.

Determine the age of children in the pictures

Many of course will say, well, what can an eight-year-old boy or girl find there. But look at how children master complex techniques - just first-graders understand smartphones and computers no worse than gray-bearded admins, and this is precisely why Jimu robots are a real breakthrough. And below I will tell why it is so important, precisely from the point of view of pedagogy, using the example of teaching English.

These children are already selling beer, but they still buy children's designers.

As you know, Russian schools begin to learn a foreign language at the age of eight and a teaspoon per week. As a result, all children know English through a stump-deck and can still speak (with a monstrous accent), but to write a story or post on the Internet is a stop machine.

All because the language must begin to learn in 4-5 years and immediately dive into the language environment. Then the language learns by itself, because at this time the speech center of the brain is actively formed and the processing of “speaking” takes place at the “hardware level”, without any effort from the side of consciousness.

For this photo it is clear why dads love to buy helicopters, railways and robots so much for children)

That is why children from birth to 5-6 years old easily learn any languages. They learn their native language in a natural way, without any schools, so they can learn English the same way. But to learn something after 7-8 years, it is necessary to load the centers of common logic - fixation in the speech center does not occur. That is, we are talking about “software emulation” without hardware acceleration. Well, the result is appropriate.

And now we recall how we learn programming languages. Despite the fact that for the human brain there is no fundamental difference between English and conditional basic, programming begins to be taught in us only in the seventh grade, that is, at the age of 12-14 years, when puberty begins and is no longer up to languages. And they also learn 1-2 hours a week.

As a result, schoolchildren can still read the English text, but I have never seen such a program in BASIC. From my school experience, I can say that a person either learns to code right away at something decent or does not learn at all. Well, imagine that instead of English, for the beginning, you are taught to speak Sanskrit, so that after school you could decide what language to learn. This is also a way, and this can also be learned, but it will take a little more time.

In this light, it is very interesting to conduct an experiment and check how true everything that I have written here is to give the child of this robot and see that he CAM learns how to code with him on the Swift in a day or a week or a month.

Are there programmer parents on giktaims ready to give up a child for experiments? With you, the child and the promise not to help him with the code, with me - agree with the robotic station about a free robot in exchange for a couple of posts on Hiktaims.

What do you think?
