Review of smartphone Moto E Plus: 5000 mAh in a slim package

Hello friends! In our last issue, we talked about a simple and reliable Moto C Plus smartphone. It's time to get acquainted with the smartphone for those who want more - Moto E Plus.

If the name of the model has changed only one letter, then in the smartphone itself there have been noticeable changes. The screen diagonal of Moto E Plus has increased by half an inch, a fingerprint scanner has been added, the camera resolution has almost doubled, and the case is made of metal, not plastic. Also, do not forget about the original features of Moto and the latest version of Android 7.1.1.

The Moto E Plus packaging is as bright as its counterpart C Plus. But the colors of the case at the smartphone were calmer. Even a bright, golden color looks nice - the phone will stand out from the crowd, and will not look puffy. By the way, the thickness of the smartphone was small - 9.9 mm, thanks to this, as well as the sloping edges, Moto E Plus will be comfortable to lie in your hand.

In the package there was everything you need: headphones, charging and cable. As in the case of the C Plus, charging the smartphone is able to cope with the tablet due to the maximum output current of 2A. Headphones were the same as the C Plus, so they sound nice. Yes, and remote control with a microphone will be great helpers for the user.

Technically, the color of the E Plus is gray, but the shade turned out to be so deep that from afar it can be mistaken for classic black. Such a smartphone will look equally good both in a man’s hand and in a woman’s hand. Well, for those who want to stand out, there is a version of Moto E Plus with a golden case.

The display traditionally occupies most of the front panel. With a diagonal of 5.5 inches and a resolution of 1280x720 pixels, it shows a good picture. Affects the quality of the IPS-matrix. The image is bright, well distinguishable in the sun, and there is no hint of unpleasant "grain" on the screen. In general, the Moto E Plus display will be enough for everyday tasks, and to view some video.

On the front side of the smartphone, in its lower part, is a fingerprint scanner. Thanks to proprietary technology One Button Nav, it can be used not only for its intended purpose, but also as any Andorid control. These can be “back”, “home”, “show running applications” and even “Power” buttons. The type of action will depend on the user's movements: swipes, touches or long touches. You can use this technology at will. When One Button Nav technology is turned off, normal virtual keys will remain on the screen.

Above the screen is a speaker, a camera with a resolution of 5 megapixels (with HDR support) and - a very rare thing for any smartphone - a front flash. Additional flash is useful for shooting self in difficult conditions, for example, in a cafe or on the street in the evening. If an ordinary selfie camera in such cases pulls out a picture and creates a lot of noise, then the Moto E Plus camera will be free from such drawbacks.

On the right side of the Moto E Plus are traditional for any modern smartphone keys. These are Power and volume keys. The left side of the smartphone was empty - there is not even a tray for SIM cards and a memory card on it.

As for the other faces of the smartphone, then the set of possibilities is the most common. At the top there is a single 3.5 mm audio jack, and from below: a microUSB port, a microphone and a main speaker.

The reverse side of Moto E Plus is made of metal and plastic. The central part of the panel turned out to be metal, and its upper and lower edges were made of plastic. In them (as well as in the ring, encircling the camera and flash) are antennas Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and cellular. By the way, NFC support immediately adds E Plus contactless payment support. For example, today's fashionable Android Pay can be freely downloaded from the Google.Play store.

The resolution of the main camera is 13 megapixels, with autofocus, flash, as well as support for HDR and panoramas. The camera copes well with its main task: it starts quickly, focuses and does not think about each shot. As for shooting video, only a resolution of 1280x720 pixels is supported here. By modern standards, of course, not very much, but the built-in software stabilizer perfectly brightens this drawback.

Now let's look under the cover of the smartphone. Despite the fact that it was removable, dismantling it for the first time will not be easy - it is too tight to the body. Under the cover is a non-removable battery with an impressive volume of 5000 mAh, which can last for a couple of days, as well as several SIM card slots and a microSD memory card.

To the right of the camera there is a double slot for the first SIM card and a microSD memory card, and to the left of the camera there is a slot for the second SIM card. Thus, the user will no longer have to puzzle over whether it was worth sacrificing the second SIM card for the sake of a memory card.

Specifications

Inside the smartphone is installed 4-core system-on-chip MediaTek MT6737, which replaced the MediaTek MT6735. Inside the SoC, the Mali-T720 MP2 GPU is installed, operating at a clock speed of up to 650 MHz. The amount of RAM is 3 GB, and a constant - 16 GB. At the same time to increase the memory, you can use microSD cards up to 128 GB.

With wireless support for Moto E Plus, everything is fine. The smartphone will work without any problems in 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks. Bluetooth 4.2 is used to communicate with smart watches, headsets, and other gadgets, and Wi-Fi 802.11n is used to connect to wireless access points.

The interface of Moto E Plus is the best possible. This is a native Android shell, with a useful minimum of improvements. However, if the user wants to do something with this shell, then the whole Play.Market store with many free programs and utilities is at its service.

However, Moto E Plus also has a couple of trumps. This is a function of One Hand Mode, through which you can put your smartphone in one-hand control mode. In this mode, the picture on the screen is reduced, scaled and sticks to the left or right bottom edge of the smartphone. This option will be useful if Moto E Plus is in one hand, and the second is occupied with bags or something else. As a result, you can work with your smartphone, without fear of accidentally dropping it.

Another two features of the screen will be the night mode and zoom. After turning on the night in the screen palette, blue colors are reduced, so the image becomes warm and pleasing to the eye. But the change in scale is much more entertaining. Usually manufacturers put one scale and do not allow it to change. But in Moto E Plus you can play with the scale.

In the benchmarks, Moto E Plus, of course, did not show itself as a star, but no one expects this from a smartphone for 13,990 rubles. For its price category this is enough.

Moto E Plus Camera

The camera at the smartphone was not bad. She will be able to make normal shots even with a lack of lighting, but she will be sensitive to light. However, the same can be said about the vast majority of mobile cameras, so the quality of Moto E Plus photos can be called acceptable. Yes, while you should not forget about the second, a selfie-camera with your own, separate flash. This bonus is not always met

General impression of Moto E Plus

Moto E Plus was a very nice machine, it can be called the next step after the MOTO C PLUS. Despite the fact that the names of smartphones are similar, inside E Plus there have been many changes. It has a 5.5-inch IPS-screen instead of a 5-inch “Tienka”, the camera resolution has almost doubled, and the amount of RAM has increased to 3 GB.

In short, Moto E Plus is suitable for those who do not agree on a budget device and therefore are looking for a balanced solution for themselves. This is exactly what Moto E Plus can become, because it has everything you need: an excellent screen, a good camera, 4G support and a battery that will allow it to work up to two days without recharging.
