Kibatletika. Results of the first competition of Russian cyborgs

It is done, friends! Kibatletika - the first in Russia competition of people with high-tech prostheses - was successfully held in Moscow on June 15, 2017. Personally, I took part in the competition with the Stradivari myoelectric prosthesis developed by our wonderful team . For the results of the first cyborg competition - welcome under cat.

On June 15, Russia took the first step towards mass cyborgization. More than 20 users of high-tech means of rehabilitation from all over the country gathered in Moscow and not only to find out whose prosthesis is steeper, but also to declare to the society - we are not disabled, but cyborgs. By their example, all participants in the first Cybathletics prove that, thanks to technology, disability in the 21st century not only does not limit human freedom, but can also become a source of unlimited opportunities for people who today are called disabled. And let the technology that is striking the consciousness of today's Kibatlátika far away - this is just the beginning. We are on the right track. Read more about why Kibatletika is cool and important, read in the previous post .

Who participated?

Participate in Kibatletik can both individual users of the TSR (technical means of rehabilitation), and the team of developers and prosthetic enterprises, exhibiting their pilots.

23 users of artificial limbs and electric wheelchairs from all over the country arrived to try their hand at the competition. 9 teams put their pilots at the start, 3 of them with their own production.

Prosthetic leg

Initially, we planned to hold the first Cybatlie in 3 disciplines - hand prostheses, hip prostheses and electric wheelchairs. But we began to receive a lot of applications from users of prosthetic legs, so we singled out for them a separate discipline.

Users of hip prostheses and users of shank prostheses cannot compete on equal terms. It's all about the knee. Electronic knees are still lagging behind the natural, human. Since our route was originally made specifically for users of hip prostheses, the obstacle course did not seem difficult for cybathletes with shank prostheses. But for the next Cybatlie we will prepare and make a separate, more complex track for them.

In the discipline of prosthetic legs, the pilots had to sit and get out of the chair several times, step over and jump over obstacles, go down the stairs, walk the log and score 5 soccer balls.

The fastest in the discipline of hip prostheses was the cybathlete, as well as the dancer and participant in the Minute of Glory and Dancing projects, Evgeny Smirnov, who passed the route with the help of the Rheo Knee prosthesis from Icelandic company Ossur:

Among the users of the shank prostheses, Ivan Koldyshev was the fastest, also with a prosthesis from Icelanders.

Hand prostheses

Obstacle courses in Kibatletik imitate various everyday situations. Users of prosthetic hands needed to move objects of various weights and shapes, screw a light bulb into a lamp, and draw a ring through a special maze. Assignments are not easy, given that items can only be taken with a prosthesis.

The 8-year-old girl Anya opened the competition with our Kibi traction prosthesis . Anya participated in the Kibatletika out of the overall standings, nevertheless she coped with all the tasks of the track. Anya is a great fellow and our pride:

I passed the track with our own development - the Stradivarius myoelectric prosthesis . Our prosthesis makes only one grip, but perfectly fulfills its direct purpose - it is convenient to use it. "Stradivarius" securely holds both heavy objects and delicate objects - for example, a light bulb. The prosthesis is implemented proportional control system - the hand can open / close faster or slower - depending on the strength of the tension of the muscles of the forearm.

During the passage of the route, none of the tasks caused me any particular difficulties, but I did not pass the top three in time. There is no reason to get upset - you need to get used to the prosthesis well and in the following competitions show the best result.

Kibatletika is a collision of different technologies. In the discipline of prosthetic hands competed, as users of the most modern and expensive brushes:

So users of forearm prostheses, developed in the Soviet Union:

And the most amazing thing is that while the traction prostheses defeat the bionic ones!

Andrei Ilyin took the first place in Kibatletik with two traction prostheses of the forearm “Brush Rudenko”:

Also, as at last year’s international cyborgs games , the prosthetic arm, which can be called “outdated”, proved to be more effective than modern bionics. Why? There are several reasons for this. First, Andrei has been using his prosthetic devices for more than 25 years. The experience of any user of bionics is much less, so Andrew is just at times more experienced than our cyborgs. Secondly, Andrey has a pair amputation and when using the course he used both his prostheses, which is an advantage over single-prosthetic cybatles. But be that as it may, until the bionics lost. I hope this fact will inspire the developers of modern TCP to actively improve their products.

The electric wheelchair race turned out to be the smallest discipline - only two cybatletes took part in it. Alexander Kazanov, using the electric wheelchair UNAwheel from the Russian developer Supreme Motors, overcame all the obstacles of the route faster:

We can't do it without you

The goal of Kibatletiki is the creation and development of high-tech rehabilitation equipment that meets the challenges of the time. And this is not an easy task, especially if you try to solve it alone. Therefore, we encourage everyone interested in this topic to join us.

Many teams, starting the development of rehabilitation tools, face many problems - there is no knowledge about the industry, it is difficult to find potential users and find partners. Cybletics is a step to solve these problems. Let's bring the future closer together.

If you are not indifferent to the topic of modern prosthetics and rehabilitation, if you believe that modern prostheses can and should be improved, if you have your own vision, your own ideas and best practices - get in touch, tell us about your projects, come to our laboratory. Kibatletika will unite any engineers, developers, and just indifferent people.

I am sure that among those who read this post there will be people who use prostheses, wheelchairs and other means of rehabilitation. I ask you to join Kibatletik. Perhaps not as competitors. Simply feel free to come to our events, communicate and unite. Let's share with each other, as well as the developers of TCP, their knowledge and experience. We are able to influence the creation of quality products that improve our life with you. Our future is in our hands!

What's next?

Already in November, we will hold the second, more extensive competitions of cybatletes. We will invent new tasks, we will add new disciplines. Let's make the competition brighter, more dynamic, spectacular. Do not miss!

Follow our news in social networks ( VK , FB ) and on the official website . Spread the word about our initiative. Tell about our competitions to your friends and relatives - this will help you bring the bionic future of Russia closer.

We thank all those who helped implement the first cyborg competition in Russia. Thanks to the organizers, judges, volunteers. Thanks to Messe Düsseldorf Moscow, Leipziger Messe International and the Integration Forum for providing the competition area. We are grateful to the Perspektiva Foundation, the Social Insurance Fund, ASI, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation, the Skolkovo Foundation, as well as to the Sponsor Consulting, Medsi and SAP companies.
