Mapping
- Jean-Louis Zimmerman gives another example, probably the most common problem in OSM - "how to map?". How would you mark a tourist sightseeing index with signs that rotate and change the names of objects?
- The
highway=mini_roundabout
, which indicates roundabout, was adopted 11 years ago. Since then, it has been used 52 thousand times. But Florian Lohoff learned about it not so long ago, and therefore proposed to cancel it, since he had never used it before. This marked the beginning of a lengthy discussion on the mailing list, where you can also find out the background and rules from different countries. - The tagging scheme has been approved , which proposes to mark the signs and identification marks of the communal infrastructure on the map: gas and water pipes, service valves, power lines, hydrants and much more. As it usually happens, the article on the tagging scheme was moved from the " Suggestions " section to WikiOSM .
- Mateusz Konecki on GitHub invited the developers of the iD online editor to roll back their controversial solution, which is that iD now insists on marking the crosswalk with the
cross=marked
tag, rather than the establishedcross=zebra
. In particular, this decision hurts users from the UK, because it was there that this tag appeared, and also has an exact legal value. The proposal on GitHub was closed, further comments were ignored. - Apple’s Andrew Wizman told several mailing lists at once that they had updated assignments in MapRoulette: they added new countries and data.
- Nino Caldeira wrote a post about how the Portuguese OSM community uses MapRoulette to check parks to find fakes added by Pokémon GO players. It turned out that a number of parks were marked incorrectly due to differences in the Portuguese language in Brazil and Portugal.
- User Fanfouer has developed a tagging scheme that allows you to add additional information to power lines, namely, specify the method of mounting and location of wires on the support.
- The Blog.dedj blog illustrates how to use the Task Manager . from HOT to manage the project and share work among group members.
- There is still a debate, especially among transport companies, regarding the two qualifying keys for the access tag: yes and designated (preferred). SomeoneElse wrote a post on this topic, where he looked at this problem from a resident of England and Wales.

The author of the style is waiting for comments. Registered users can select the Air3 style in the section Profile -> Display -> Styles.

In addition to the details of the waiver program, you can also learn about the various ways you can help people in your community become members of the Fund.

Education
- At the DINAcon Digital Sustainability Conference in mid-October in Bern, Dinacon Awards presented five interesting projects. One of them - OpenSchoolMaps - became the winner in the nomination "The best educational project." It is possible that the jury's decision was influenced by the fact that this service has the possibility of feedback. Also, students of the Faculty of Informatics of the University of Technology named after Rappersville ..
