Intel and AMD announced that the new multi-chip module from Intel will include a “semi-standard” GPU from AMD . The product is planned to be released on the market in I sq. 2018 year. The module includes the following:

• 8th generation Intel Core processor
• Radeon semi-standard graphics chip
• Vertical stack of high-performance memory interface High Bandwidth Memory (HBM2) of the second generation

Apparently, this is a mutually beneficial cooperation. Intel produces a solution for gamers, where Intel processors are, but taking away margins from AMD (that is, selling its products and lowering AMD to the level of a simple component supplier). In turn, AMD is expanding the market, taking away the share of the gaming market from Nvidia.





The new multi-chip module uses a new power-sharing system and Embedded Multi-Die Interconnect Bridge (EMIB) technology to build a multi-chip module.
